收藏着录： 故宫书画录（卷五），第三册，页8 收藏着录： 故宫书画图录，第一册，页25-26 内容简介（中文）： 大松下五位士人围长案雅聚，童子张琴，仕女抱阮或备茶，人物器用俱以中锋细笔钩勒，顿起顿收，转折挺劲，如画树的枝桠。画上无作者款印，旧传周昉作。按周昉（活动于八世纪末）是陜西长安人，唐代著名人物画家，画史称其人物善于刻画个别的性格，并能掌握特定环境下的情态。本幅构图似是取自其他作品拼凑而成，如士人围坐的构图便是摹仿传世十八学士的一段。 内容简介（英文）： This painting depicts an elegant gathering of five scholars around a long table listening to a recital. A servant boy holds a lute and ladies hold a juan instrument and tea utensils. The figures and objects have been outlined with great delicacy using centered brushstrokes. In the drapery, the touching and lifting of the brush, as well as its twisting and turning, are similar to the brushwork used in rendering tree branches. This work bears no signature or seal of the artist, but has been traditionally attributed to Chou Fang, a native of Ch'ang-an (Shensi) who was a renowned figure painter of the T'ang dynasty. In traditional painting texts, his figure paintings are described as being good at capturing the individual personalities of the figures as well as the mood of the situation. The composition of this work appears to have been selected from parts of other works. The arrangement of scholars sitting around a table, for example, imitates a section from versions of "The Eighteen Scholars."
